ProgIDs

The ProgIDs item in the File Types Explorer contains all of the programmatic identifiers—also known as application identifiers when they support file types—that you want to associate with file extensions. For example, an .sab file extension could point to a sabfile progID, and all of .sab's file type information would be registered under sabfile.

To create a progID, right-click on the ProgIDs item. Click on the new progID to set its properties.

Enter the progID of the application for which you are creating a file type association. This progID uniquely identifies your application and ensures that your association is recognized by the operating system.
